DID PALIN ANSWER A SINGLE QUESTION SHE WAS ASKED?!

That's what I want to know. Watching this response from her was jaw-droppingly stupid.

My favorite moment of the night was watching Joe Biden go off on her for talking talking talking, but not answering anything. She bitched about "Pointing fingers towards the past" but did nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to seperate her and McCain from George W. Bush and these past 8 years.

Will someone explain to her that "being a Maverick" isn't a policy?! This was so painful to watch. She's so overly coached, so mismanaged and handled by the McCain campaign that they might as well just have had a soundboard of various clips and let Gwen Ifil press them from time to time to hear "McCain's viewpoint."

It's a disgrace to allow her to continue on and you Conservatives know it. She's in way over her head and it's a shame that the McCain campaign let it go this far.

"Country First" my ass.

It was obvious that they had coached her that if she didn't know what else to say, to fall back on the Maverick buzzwords and repeat the mission statement. I think she gave the same answer something like three times, none of which related to the question at hand.

Believe it or not, I agree with you a little.. I cringed a few times in the beginning when she completely ignored the questions and started reciting her stump speeches. To be fair, Biden wasn't really answering the questions either, but he usually segwayed off onto another topic.. It was like Palin didn't even hear the questions though..

She turned things around after about fifteen minutes and had Biden on the defensive on foreign policy, his supposed forte, so that was surprising.. And she effectivly pointed out that her focus as VP would be on energy, which is an issue that the Republicans wholly own..

She neutralized the Couric interviews and charmed the Independents, so she did her job.. John McCain has two debates to school Obama... if he can't zing Obama and make him look unqualified, a "tie" is a win for Obama..

Is that a fair analysis? Or do you see things WAY differently?

No, I do believe we're in agreement. I think you're coming around on realizing she's not the Great White Hope everyone wanted her to be. :)

But I do have to take issue with one of your points...

You really think Biden was on the defense during the foreign policy portion of the debate?! She never named specifics. Not once. "Israel is our Ally" isn't exactly a policy.

In her interview with Kaite Couric (one of the few clips I DIDN'T post) she acted like she had no idea who Hamas was!

Katie Couric asked her, ""What happens if the goal of democracy doesn't produce the desired outcome? In Gaza, the U.S. pushed hard for elections and Hamas won."

And Lipstick replied, "Yeah, well especially in that region, though, we have to protect those who do seek democracy and support those who seek protections for the people who live there. What we're seeing in the last couple of days here in New York is a President of Iran, Ahmadinejad, who would come on our soil and express such disdain for one of our closest allies and friends, Israel ... and we're hearing the evil that he speaks and if hearing him doesn't allow Americans to commit more solidly to protecting the friends and allies that we need, especially there in the Mideast, then nothing will."

Now, I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt and just say she didn't realize who Hamas was...and NOT claim that she supports or endorses them.

So, I'm going to have to disagree with your notion that she had Biden on the defense for foreign policy. He lives for this stuff, she's been cramming for 5 weeks. (And nothing, NOTHING will "neutralize" the Katie Couric interviews. Not as long as Youtube is around. :)

Also, if you read any of the polls following the debate, you'll notice that she actually LOST the Independents, not "charmed" them. The biggest "knock-out" of the evening for them (especially women) was Biden choking up when discussing his sons being in the auto accident.
